About

The Conversation Live

The Conversation Live is a weekly television talk show that follows current events and pertinent related issues through a ‘hyperlocal’ lens. Originating in Pasadena, CA, the show’s interviews feature elected officials, subject experts, and thought leaders.
Hosted by award-winning journalist, filmmaker and producer James Farr, The Conversation Live is known for its in-depth interviews and its ability to engender rapport and confidence with guests resulting in candid answers regarding their personal lives and professional careers.
At the top of each episode, Farr reminds viewers that the focus of these dialogues is “social justice, restorative justice, equality, and inclusion,” and that the discussion could be “piercing, provocative and possibly uncomfortable.”

Farr’s approach is not about “fixing the fish,” but, “heading upstream to see how the toxic ground waste is contaminating downstream.” Beyond printed and digital media, the show affords audiences the opportunity to hear the guest’s unedited voice between attention grabbing-headlines.

The Conversation Live has won several awards, including the Alliance for Community Media Foundation’s Hometown Media Award for “Voter Education” and the prestigious Jeff Adachi Social Justice Award. The show has also been praised by local leaders and community members for its role in providing a forum for important conversations about the issues facing the Pasadena area.
In season seven, Farr will be joined by a diverse range of guests, including Pasadena Police Chief John Harris, Black Lives Matter Los Angeles organizer Dr. Melina Abdullah, and Los Angeles District Attorney George Gascon.
The Conversation Live is produced by Tunnel Vision with production services by Pasadena Media.
